Black Lotus Studios. Imagining a combination of lotus pods, flowers and yoga? Well, you’ve hit the nail on the head – one of many in the Yokel spotlight this week is Enmore-based yoga and natural therapies studio Black Lotus Studios, a unique and welcoming centre dedicated to teaching Iyengar yoga to those already fighting fit, or for those who might want to work on their flexibility.
Dedicated practitioners and teachers of Iyengar yoga, Black Lotus Studios welcomes all students – no matter how fit, strong, relaxed or flexible they are
What is Iyengar yoga exactly? As the Black Lotus Studios website states, Iyengar yoga is a form of Hatha Yoga founded in the late 1930s by BKS Iyengar, a yoga master living in Pune, India. Funnily enough, Mr. Iyengar is still alive today at 93, and continues to teach! We think that’s enough to get to a class quick-smart, don’t you think? Practicing meditation and gaining exercise through classes that are specifically tailored to your fitness needs, Black Lotus’ teachers are all highly skilled and certified through the BKS Iyengar Yoga Association of Australia and are trained by Peter Thomson, a Senior Iyengar Yoga teacher.
Natural therapies are a major part of what makes Black Lotus Studios unique, offering a range of different natural therapies and treatment modalities such as massages, Traditional Chinese Medicine (acupuncture and herbs), shiatsu, physiotherapy and clinical pilates, naturopathy, counselling, facials and plenty more. The Studio offers several meditation courses, guest teachers and workshops to practice yoga, which is a great way to build some strength, serenity and find inner peace. As Black Lotus Studios says, you don’t have to be fit, strong, relaxed or even flexible!
If you haven’t considered yoga as the kind of physical activity that’s right for you, we recommend checking out Black Lotus Studios as you will definitely change your mind after enrolling in the new beginners’ course that you can complete in 4-5 weeks!
