Since the year of it’s inception, the makers of Happy have run the music blog called Hhhhappy, dedicating it to covering and showcasing emerging Aussie bands. The blog features daily updates and interviews with local artists, and with almost five thousand Facebook likes and over ten thousand subscribers, it is a huge part of Happy Music Festival’s ongoing presence on the web and amongst it’s ongoing fans.
Happy needed to differentiate itself from the crowd of music blogs – we gave them an illustration to accompany their interview with North Arm’s Rod Smith
We’ve been lucky enough to be a part of their branding and web development since day one and then again when they re-launched in 2013.
With the Campfire Sessions drawing nearer, the Hhhhappy blog wanted to ramp up the buzz around their site, and create really exciting and fresh content. They’re already producing great written content, so they came to us and asked us to create something beautiful to go alongside their newest in-depth interview with Rod Smith who is the man behind North Arm.
There are so many music blogs on the internet, and so much press about bands, that Happy really needed a way to differentiate themselves from the crowd.
Interviews with bands are normally accompanied by press photos of varying degrees of quality so it wouldn’t be enough to just present them with something that looked great. We needed to give them a point of difference.
We decided to go with an illustration which would really stand out and reflect the kind of effort that Hhhhappy is prepared to go to in order to bring the world the music content they think should be shared.
The three colour, vector line illustration of Rod encased in the Happy triangle was a hit. That single post brought in more pageviews, shares and likes than Happy would normally get when they share new content, so we consider it to have been a great success! Here’s hoping they don’t ask us to illustrate a 5 piece band any time soon! You’re looking at around 4-5 hours per person.
Happy also have an excellent gig guide which you should definitely check out.Similar Projects Hire Us
