Now this may come as a surprise to you but here at the IYBI studio, we love coffee. We. Really. Love. It. So of course our ears pricked up when we heard about Barrel One Coffee Roasters and in this instance, it wasn’t just because it involved coffee and it was before 11am. Promise.
Beans sourced from a volcanic island in Vanuatu, a strong ethical stance & sustainability a high priority – Barrel One Coffee Roasters have our attention
Barrel One is a relatively young business but it’s already received accolades. What has helped it grow and stand apart from similar ventures is it’s strong ethical stance and trade approach; their coffee beans are sourced from Tanna Island in Vanuatu – home to the largest active volcano in the Southern Hemisphere. The volcanic ash makes for the perfect organic fertiliser, creating a truly delicious drink.
Barrel One coffee is also beyond Fair-Trade meaning they deal directly with the farmers and give them the best possible price, so they also have a share in the profits of the coffee. This means they build close working bonds with their suppliers and the communities in which they live creating an environment where sustainability can thrive. Organic product, true values and a closed loop business… is there a better excuse to drink more coffee?
If you fancy a cuppa head to the Barrel One website to view stockists, learn more about what they do or to buy some online. Their Facebook page has lots of caffeine related updates while their Twitter is maintained frequently with plenty of news. They also have a Tumblr which has lots of sophisticated, coffee related inspiration.Web Facebook Twitter Instagram Tumblr
