”Follow your heart, trust your judgement, do it with joy” is the by-line for Sydney furniture and home wares showroom Koskela. It’s a wonderful mantra that can not only be applied to interior decorating but all facets of life. The theme runs right through the business which is run by Russel Koskela, Sasha Titchkosky and Russell’s uber cute dachshund, Rudi! The beautiful showroom features furniture designed by Russell that is perfect for those who have require a more casual and functional approach to life (and decorating). Environmentally friendly timbers are used in the designs that is sourced within Australia through the close working partnerships that Koskela has developed with suppliers. Here at IYBI we love that this is a business that supports the local Australian manufacturing industry and tries to minimise the environmental impact of their products. We think it’s crucial to keep local industries afloat and more businesses should strive to do the same. In addition to beautiful furniture, Koskela also sells carefully curated (and lust-worthy) gifts and accessories that we are constantly eyeing up. All of these are also completely Australian made which really highlights how much design talent exists within Australia and is nice to see a business really making it their mission to support this talent. The talent does not stop there though, because within Koskela exists Kitchen by Mike, a delicious canteen style experience headed up by ex-Rockpool chef Mike McEnearney who serves up seasonal and responsible food. That’s what’s so great and unique about Koskela – it’s a totally joyful experience.
