Regional art galleries sometimes don’t get the kudos they deserve, but we’re giving some of ours to Maitland Regional Art Gallery, otherwise known as MRAG. They have some great exhibitions on right now, some great exhibitions coming up, and have held some great exhibitions in the past. That’s some all round greatness. I particularly love the definition they give for MRAG (pronounced em·rag] on their website: “A place of activity, interest and culture: I went to MRAG last weekend and I just loved it.”
We did this invite for the upcoming Lucy Barker exhibition entitled ‘Lifestyles of neither the rich nor famous’. We loved the opportunity to use gold foil, which gives a touch of well deserved glamour to this topic. Lucy brings the colour herself, showing some bright abstract landscapes, inspired by the simple cross-hatchings on a folding chair but representative of so much more.
