Sydney’s love affair with macarons is still going strong, which can only be a good thing for Newtown business MakMak who have carved quite the name for themselves as the makers of some of the best macarons in Australia – maybe the world.
Macarons have been the confection du jour for a while, but MakMak put their own spin on the trend with some pretty unusual and mouthwatering flavours
For the uninitiated, macarons are small meringue based treats that come in a variety of flavours and textures and really have been the confection du jour for quite some time. We always love seeing a business capitalise on a trend (after all, why not?) but then turn it on it’s head to present something completely different. That’s something that MakMak has achieved.
Not only is their produce consistent and of a high quality but they produce a rotation of some pretty wacky flavours. Over summer they’ve been serving flavours such as bellini (peach and prosecco), extra virgin olive oil, lemon and dark chocolate and banana, macadamia and coffee. But don’t worry they also sell more classic flavours if any of those aren’t your cup of tea.
And if you’re sat there thinking “damn, I really want to go but just don’t live close enough” don’t even worry because MakMak can deliver to many Sydney suburbs. Winning.
