MK Floors is a commercial flooring company which is 100% independent and Australian owned. They pride themselves on offering full service solutions for their clients, sharing their expertise and product knowledge to ensure the best results.
An amalgamation of several small companies, Master Kelwin was recently obtained by an Australian management team and completely rebranded as MK Floors. In the same way that the new team was invigorating the approach and professionalism of the business, the new logo and brand design needed to refresh the business’ image. One of the biggest priorities was to bring unity and brand recognition across the seven branches spread across four states which until now have been quite disconnected.
With their brand style guide, MK Floors can now present a visually unified face to the public, positioning them as the expert professionals that they are
The old brand was very dated, and gave the impression that the company was out of touch. Our task was to provide them with a strong, confident solution that would appeal to clients in all of their major industry segments – hospitality, healthcare, commercial, aged care and education. Market placement was very important for this project – they’re in a competitive industry and we needed to place them right at the top.
The logo symbol is derived from the form of a building, referencing the company’s focus and industry. We used angles to create a three dimensional feeling, reinforcing the physical nature of their profession while at the same time using flat colour to firmly ground MK Floors as a fresh, professional entity. The two blues encourage trust, evoking a feeling of joining and partnership between expert and client. The strong black wordmark contrasts and compliments.
Because MK Floors is such a large company with branches all over Australia, it is important that the brand remain consistent across all outlets to maximise recognition and impact. To this end, we created a brand style guide designed to make it as easy as possible to keep the brand universal. This included a 35 page document outlining the brand elements, correct and incorrect usage both in print and online as well as guidelines for branded uniforms, vehicles and office spaces.
We accompanied this with an extensive brand pack including all versions of the logo in a variety of formats to suit every use, templates for presentations, social media marketing and an individual collateral pack for each branch containing business cards, letterhead templates, with compliments slips and email signature templates.
MK Floors are now equipped with everything that they need to present a visually unified face to the public, positioning them in their industry as the expert professionals that they are.
