Responsible Runners

Going for a run is something that many of us have a hard time dedicating ourselves to. It’s hard to get motivated, despite knowing how beneficial hitting the pavement can be.

Fortunately, here at IYBI we’ve come across a new source of motivation and actually it’s made us really keen to go for a run!

An initiative run via Facebook, Responsible Runners consist of people across the NSW coastline who run and collect rubbish together

So, who exactly is responsible for such a turn around in behaviour? Responsible Runners, that’s who. Responsible Runners are groups of proactive people who meet weekly up and down the NSW coast to go for thirty minute runs (or walks) whilst collecting rubbish and marine debris.

So not only are you keeping yourself in tip-top shape, you do the same for our world-class coast. We think it’s such a perfect idea and we always love to hear about new businesses and initiatives whose motivation is improving local communities and the environment.

In their first year, Responsible Runners picked up over 160,000 pieces of rubbish, equating to 4.5 tonnes which we think is amazing achievement. And we’re not the only ones to think so, the movement is constantly growing and expanding.

Fancy a run? Head to the Responsible Runners Facebook page to learn more about the movement, groups in your area and how to get involved. If you need a little more motivation then get yourself onto their Instagram feed.
